and after oral GC therapy (GC-treated) and 8 controls of inferior turbinate mucosa were included. cDNA microarray analysis, together with histoand immunohistochemical validation, was performed. RESULTS: Infiltration of eosinophils and neutrophils was prominent in GC-nave NP. GC was effective in reducing the recruitment of both nasal mucosal eosinophils and neutrophils. Thirty-one eosinophil-ass...
متن کاملNontraumatic intracavernous carotid aneurysm presenting with epistaxis.
A patient with an intracavernous carotid aneurysm usually presents with symptoms and signs of a space occupying lesion, producing one of a variety of types of cavernous sinus syndromes (Jefferson, 1938). Epistaxis is an unusual feature in these patients and when present is nearly always associated with a traumatic aneurysm (Mahmoud, 1979). There are only two reported cases of non-traumatic intr...
متن کاملLate-Onset Massive Epistaxis due to a Ruptured Traumatic Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysm: A Case Report
A traumatic internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm is rare and difficult to treat. Trapping of ICA is commonly performed owing to the difficulty of directly approaching ICA aneurysms. Recently, coiling the aneurysm itself was recommended if possible. However, it is controversial which of methods are best to completely treat aneurysm. We present the case of a 74-year-old man, who had experienced...
متن کاملBilateral Ophthalmic Artery Dissecting Aneurysms Presenting with Recurrent Epistaxis.
We present a rare case of bilateral expanding traumatic pseudoaneurysms of the ophthalmic arteries, due to a gunshot. The aneurysms presented with epistaxis. After a failure of conservative management, coil embolization of the aneurysms resulted in complete occlusion, with preservation of flow in the parent vessels.
متن کاملInternal carotid artery aneurysm presenting with severe epistaxis.
A case of aneurysm of the cavernous part of right Internal Carotid Artery is reported. This is a rare condition. The patient presented with recurrent episodes of epistaxis from right nostril for 10 years. Previously his right Common Carotid Artery and subsequently the Internal Carotid Artery had been ligated in the neck without benefit. A right frontal craniotomy had failed to reveal the aneury...
